Score one for Deborah
I thought this was an amusing little tidbit of real estate news. While conducting a home search real estate agent Beau Betts noticed that Deborah Arends, the antagonist on 60 Minutes’ Redfin piece, took over a property that was previously listed with Redfin for nearly 100 days. Sometimes experience and service do matter.
You come across as very scared of Redfin, since a single event like this is considered front-page news in the local real estate industry.
Acutally, I like Redfin and have been following them since they first launched. Redfin had a different business model back then. As mentioned previously, I took a tour of Redfin’s office a few weeks and got to meet its CEO Glenn Kelman and a number of other high-profile employees. I hope I get invited back when they move to their new digs in the Dexter Horton Building.
I’ve been to a number of Redfin listed properties and they’ve done a great job consulting and preparing their sellers. I think what this shows, though, is that it takes much more than listing a property on the MLS to market it properly and get it sold, which can be said for other agents/companies as well.
Listings expire/cancel daily and are often re-listed with a different agent, so this isn’t uncommon. It’s just a little ironic in context with the 60 Minutes segment.
Here is an update on the house I listed this month that had previously been listed with Refin: We sold it within days and it is now closed! This is the second time I have listed a house that had been listed with Redfin for months and for which we received and offer in a couple days.
Deborah - congratulations on marketing and selling the property quickly.
To “Leslie” with the fake email, I’m disapproving the comment (all comments on this blog are held for moderation) as it contained an unsubstantiated personal attack against the subject.
But, I will address your questions. Deborah listed the home at a higher price and the buyer was represented by a different brokerage company.
